7Y).WWWW a kkxW /*YNew Features for Image In a new Menu called 'AFM Goodies' you find some new features for the Image program. As they are designed for evaluating pictures from an Atomic Force Microscope some of them are very special. Others however are of general interest like the Fourier Transformation, the 3-D Plot Option, etc. . File Formats: Two new file formats have been installed, the APIC and NCCD format. The APIC Format is used by the 'Atomic Force' program, the NCCD format by a special CCD Camera. If you want to read APIC or NCCD files you have the possibility to invoke a special Options Menu by pressing and holding the Option Key while opening the file in the File Open Menu. The following Options can be selected: Transform Opts: Subtract Line Offset, Subtract Line Fit, None. Scale Opts: - Auto: Selects a suitable factor to transform the 12 bit data to 8 bit data - Fixed: Choose the factor yourself. Line Filter: Several data filter(smooth) options can be chosen. AFM Goodies: Fourier Transform: Computes a twodimensional Fourier Transform of the selected picture. The Image Size is restricted to a power of 2. Fourier Retransform: Computes the Retransformation. Filter in k-space: You can filter Information in the k-space before processing the Retransformation. Restore FFT: You can undo changes in the k-space. Horizontal FFT: Computes a horizontal Fourier Trafo, linewise, as it were. Save FFT(t) k=const: Saves the column #k from the Fourier transformed picture. Very special Option. Correlation Function: Computes the correlation fuction. The following Options can be selected: - Kind :Autocorrelation, Next Line/Column (correlation within one picture between one Line/Column and the next), pairwise (Correlation between two pictures) - Dimension: Horizontal, Vertical, twodimensional - Scaling: Auto, fixed. a value of zero is always displayed as medium grey (value 127). Choosing scaling fix you determine the value scaled to colorindex 255 3D-Plot: Computes a threedimensional plot of the selected picture. Pressing and holding the Option Key while invoking this command calls an option menu. There you can choose the Height Factor and if you want to have a negative plot. Normally white color is taken for high and black color for low. In a negative plot it's the other way round. 3D-Shading: Computes a threedimensional shaded plot of the selected picture. Pressing and holding the Option Key while invoking this command calls an option menu. You can choose the viewer and the light position. The circles and lines should be regarded as a ball looked at directly from above. Mathematically speaking, you can choose the angles from polar coordinates. The radii can be typed in as well. You can type in a height facor and select a shade step. Since the computation of a shade picture can take a lot of time you should choose a higher number as a shade step until you have found the suitable selections. For the final picture you should choose step 1. Subtract: You can subtract from the selected piture: a Line Offset, a Line Fit, a Column Offset, a Column Fit, a Plane Fit or a Parabolic Fit. Blow Up: Doubles the dimensions of the selected picture. An interpolation is done. Add Scales: Adds information about the dimensions to an APIC- picture. Very special option. Black Photo Mode: Sets the color outside the selected picture to black. Useful to take screen photos. x{|55I *@|{{=BBF {{ =@%$ %AO@$?@AOPq FG{|UV $ % & ' ( ST#P#P#P #P $ ( , #P $ ( ,#P#P#P #P#P#PA G e4 :HH +6G{HH d'@A.hR@H -:LaserWriter (("
